I am a student at Georgia Southern University. I am working on getting my BS in Early Childhood Education. I am in my Curriculum semester. I was placed at Claxton Elementary School in an EIP classroom with multiple grades (K-5). The teacher I am placed with is Mrs. LaDonna Tucker.

Yay, someone finally understands my PPB experience! I too didn't complete a traditional PPB like most other girls in our program. I graduated 2 years ago from GMC and did my field experience in the classes of my choosing. It wasn't near as much time or structure as GSU has. But I think it worked out well because I got to see investigated what I wanted. It really helps you realize if the grade you want is really what you want!
ReplyDeleteHey Mara!
ReplyDeleteI bet working in an IEP classroom is different but fun. I would love to hear about some of the things that you experience in there. I, too, am in the same boat as you are when it comes to PPB. I came from East Georgia and we got to choose we were did our observations. GSU is totally different but I think things are going great so far. I hope you have a great semester!
I worked in an IEP classroom during my first year. It is a huge difference. Many of the students not only had problems learning, but also had behavior problems. This job really tested my patience, and my capabilities.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that working in an IEP classroom is quite different from an ordinary classroom. I would like to have that kind of experience before I graduate, I'm just scared that I would not have the patience for it. I guess I will never know if I don't try though. It's pretty cool that you were able to choose your own field experiences at your last school. Very different from what we have here. Good luck on your last three semesters!
ReplyDeleteI think you are going to be a great inspiration to your students! It is great that you get to experience a different grade. Good luck observing and keep up the great work. See you in class!
